And, once again, it seems it's a series still doomed for nothing more than a silver medal, thanks to the comparison that keeps being forced upon it by its own developer. The impressive, feature-packed Bubble Bobble Plus! just arrived in the American Wii Shop a few months back, and now Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! has appeared on its heels. The connection's never made all that much sense, but to this day Taito continues to position the happy, shiny Islands as a follow-up to the more well-known and well-loved Bobble - and it's now happened again. They got sent out on another adventure, in the arcade spin-off/sequel/follow-up Rainbow Islands - where they climbed up a technicolor tower instead of descending through a dark and dreary dungeon, and attacked their enemies with bright, magic rainbows instead of burping up bouncing bubbles. But they didn't get much of a break, even then. The little dinosaur heroes in Bubble Bobble, "Bub" and "Bob," weren't dinosaurs to begin with - they were cursed into those bodies, and after completing the quest in that bubble-blowing original arcade adventure they went back to being human boys.
